Penguinquest1 release date

The game engine for Penguinquest1 is mostly completed. The designing of the game (maps, images, etc.) are still being worked on. The plan for release is probably around the end of this summer.
Meanwhile, I am working on Penguinquest2 - I'll probably show a few sample maps (beta 1) sometime this month. :)
(anyone want to draw? I seriously need someone who can draw simple sprites for the game!)

eggbits 3.0 released

eggbits version 3.0 is out, and as you can probably tell, the page looks a lot different. if you have any suggestions, please email us or post on the forum. also, you may notice that we now have links to Talisman and BattlePac. BattlePac v1.0 has just been released with new improvements. Talisman, on the other hand, is not near completion, as you can see, so we cannot give a release date for that yet. we may decide to scrap it.

as for other game status, Penguin RPG is getting near full version release, but we cannot give a date yet, and look for an exciting new java game after the full version release!

and we might fix eggminton and give a full release with realistic physics and better graphics/gameplay. and multifight - theres no way we are going to do anything with that, it will probably get taken off the site soon.

other than that, make sure to join the forum if you haven't yet, and if you are registered, use it! you can help us out by posting game ideas, graphics, suggestions, and anything else you think we could use. and if you are interested in joining the eggbits staff, we welcome anyone who has a skill we can use, like programming, web page design, graphic design (especially sprites), etc. and we will be updating the old games and animations that were never finished at eggbits.com/old (you can see eggquest, canvasrpg, and other unfinished projects).

penguinquest2 screenshot and ideas

screenshot. as you can probably see, it is very very beta, just an idea for what penguinquest2 is like right now. Since I'm really the only person working on this game right now and Mr. PMega is drawing webcomics, (www.sketchymorris.com) I need suggestions and ideas!

Does anyone want to suggest features to the game that wasn't in penguinquest or shouldn't be in penguinquest2? If you even want to help me design the game, (like creating maps, picture, etc) you are welcomed to!

Any suggestions, ideas, or wannabe-designers, please email me or post on the forum!
(Also, I'm not going to release a beta until there is penguin pics for the game...anyone who can draw?)

BattlePac v1.0 Released!

BattlePac is now released! It is much better than the beta version but I won't go into details- go play it yourself here!

PenguinQuest and PenguinQuest2 (edit)

Guess what? PenguinRPG is going to be called PenguinQuest. Ok? Ok.

Since so much people have enjoyed PenguinQuest's Betas, I have decided to start PenguinQuest2. PenguinQuest2 is quite similar to PenguinQuest's Betas (so far), but with gravity and it is full-screen, not browser based that should be able to run on all OS with Java's VM.

Yes, PenguinQuest1 will come out. The main game engine is done, I just need my game developer to create the maps to release it. Many bugs have been fixed, and saving/loading games is no longer a problem on other OS besides Windows.

I will soon send out a screenshot of PenguinQuest2 as soon a few things have been devloped, including the new penguin image is created...(hint hint) and hopefully a very Betaish Beta soon.

we've been having a bunch of problems with the new flash page, so we're reverting back to eggbits 2 for a while. hopefully we'll get the new one back up soon. meanwhile, enjoy battlepac, penguin, and pacio!

Well, in the past month we've been considering stopping eggbits and maybe working on another project... but we couldn't find any good ideas. We're planning a eggbits 3.0 - a new front page design in flash (make sure to get flash player 8) with better looks and more interactivity. Also, Penguin RPG is coming along very well thanks to Chris, and is near completion of the base engine (hopefully phillip will complete the storyplan and levels soon). Make sure to play the new beta version with bug fixes and game saving at http://penguin.eggbits.com and watch the site for updates! As for flash games, we hopefully will get around to finishing BattlePac soon (it's almost done). So keep checking eggbits and penguin.eggbits.com for updates!

We're very sorry for the delay in the release of two new games, BattlePac and Talisman. We have been extremely busy with other things and haven't had time to work on them and we should release BattlePac by May. We are very sorry and know some of you have been waiting for a long time. Penguin RPG Glitches

Some replies to Penguin RPG Problems...

- I have gotten a few replies that the game does not load when you click on the link to the game. Your computer's Java version is most likely outdated. You can find the latest JRE (v1.5. at:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
You would go to the link with the title: "Java 5.0 Update 6 include..." To download the latest version.

- Another reply was that saving and loading maps and games problem(s). I first thought saving and loading was pretty much done until I tried it out this afternoon. There are some problems that I currently don't know how to fix; such as if you picked up something before you died, then you load - the item that should be there will not be there. For now, I would recommend trying to play the whole game (which is about 30-40 min) without stopping. If there are problems saving and loading, try deleting the game files - under C:\ in your hard drive with the extension .pmf and .pgf.

- I also heard that there were some map problems(portals going to the wrong place)...But I currently don't see any and they work just fine...

Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll try to fix the saving/loading problems after we finish the webpage. If fixed - it will probably be version 1.1.01 or something like that.

Penguin RPG Beta v1.1 is out!

We finally finished the Beta v1.1! You can play it at penguin.eggbits.com. Thanks so much for the following people who helped on creating Penguin RPG: Evan, Hillary, Ben, and Sarah. Currently, the game saves in the C:\ directory of your hard drive - and I'll make another version of the Beta (in a week or two) that you can choose where to save your games...
The next few days we will update the penguin website - adding the pages from the menubar link. It will include a guide (to be made by Evan?), stats, hitpoints, and info of all the creatures and weapons in the Beta.

Go read my blog every day. Every, every day.

No, really. The blog really is really, really cool. I update it really often, and it's really in the character of Penguin RPG and Penguin World, so I advise reading it (and participating in the Ask the Game God thing...) because I personally think it gives the whole game an aspect outside of the RPG (like Dungeons and Dragons, or Final Fantasy).

I really emphasize that I would like it if many people read my lore, news, etc. and sent me comments, because that's what RPGing is all about.

Penguin RPG Beta v1.1 Screenshots

After some delay from Penguin RPG, we are almost done with the first world of Penguin RPG! Note that the game is still in Beta - the first version should be able to save games on the server (which we need to get) and many more features. This Beta version includes: saving the game (just on your computer - and not sure if it will work on Macs), new and improved maps, shops(which currently is still rather glitchy), and new weapons and creatures! The Beta will hopefully be out within a month (probably after the Battlepac release), so just wait a bit more.

BattlePac

We are close to releasing the full version of our new game, BattlePac. It will probably be released in a few weeks. It is a two player game in which each player plays a pac-man who navigates through a maze collecting ammo and powerups and battling the other pac-man.

2005 was a very significant year in Eggbits history. In fact, it was the only year in Eggbits history. Eggbits was founded in January 2005. Our first game was released a few months after that. Throughout the course of the year, we made thousands of changes to our website, used 3 different forums, released 8 games, and saw our staff raise to 5 (from 2). A huge thanks to all our employees, community members, and anyone who visited Eggbits!

Pacio update

Pacio Flash Version 1.0 has been updated to include the city level, which was not included before! See if you can beat the last level. Please report any bugs by commenting. (Yes, this the "lost" level that Sarah made.)

Talisman Teaser

Our new game, Talisman, will be released in teaser version soon. We have created a graphic level creator to help with the creation of levels. We would like help creating levels. If you are interested in becoming a level creator, please contact us by email or by commenting on this post. The teaser is just a small taste of what the real game will be like, and will probably be released in January.

Banner

There were a few complaints about the banner, so i changed some stuff. Since I couldn't save it with the original layers, I had to redo the entire thing. I took out the white square, redid the text, but everything else is pretty much the same. Please don't say 'it's the same thing', because 1. i know, and 2. that pisses me off. Thanks.

I actually did this awhile ago, just totally forgot about it since Pat was blabbing about some 'space font'.

That gives you an idea of how many times I completely redid this thing. i personally don't like the font, but as for a stock of 'space fonts', im out. here's the picture without the fonts or borders. feel free to add in your own stuff and upload it. just dont...claim it. [x] borders are 10 white pixels, 1 black one.

On another note, I'd really like to redo the layout, although I can't work animation. If you're pretty skilled in any animation program ( preferably NOT flash >>; ) then just drop a PM.
